We left here at 8:00 this morning to go volcano boarding. Volcano boarding is when you hike up a volcano with a board similar to a sled, and ride down on your sled. Me and mom went volcano boarding earlier and have been home at our hostel room for about an hour. Me and mom left at 8:00am, and got back at 1:30pm. It was a great adventure! We had a 40 minute truck ride to the volcano we boarded down called "Cerro Negro". Then, after our 40 minute long bus ride we had a 40 minute long hike up the steep volcano. The place we were doing volcano boarding through was called Valcano Day, me and mom had to leave our hostal at 8:00 to go to Valcano Day. At Volcano Day we used the bathroom and drank a little water. Our valcano boarding tour came with a t-shirt from their building, a drink at the end, and a snack. At Volcano Day me and mom looked at the t-shirts to confirm which one we wanted to have as our free shirt. When everybody in the group got to Volcano Day the guide gave us some instructions on what would happen. After our guide told us everything we needed to know at that moment we all got into the truck. There were trucks we would drive in, the trucks were not ordinary trucks you would see driving in California. The trucks had a typical truck front with a drivers seat and one passenger seat, and the back had two long benches that the people would sit in. On our truck ride I saw chickens on the side of the road and people riding carts with horses pushing them along the road. We stopped at the rangers station to sign in and settle down for a little. The rangers station was really small, it had a table, a bathroom, a check in spot, and a little snack hanger. Our guide told everybody to come with him if they wanted to see iguanas, almost everybody went, iguanas are cool. When everybody was back in the trucks we drove about two more minutes to get to the volcano. Once we got to the volcano we grouped up and started our 40 minute hike. The hike was really steep, it was like the steepest hike I'd ever gone on. We took a few breaks during the hike, during our breaks the guide would tell us about the volcano. When we did the hike the wind was so strong, the wind made me run and it pushed me over to the edge of the cliff! I was really scared the wind might push me over the cliff and kill me or get me really injured. When we finally got up to the volcano I looked down at what I thought would be our drop, it looked creepy, I tried to hide all my crying so I wouldn't get embarresed. The drop looked creepy, I stayed with mom and didn't look back at the drop. We all went over to the semi crater, it was cool. When everybody got back from looking at the semi crater we got into our huge suits. The suits were meant for not getting ash and rock on you and your face. We had a huge yellow suit, a bandana to cover our nose and mouth, gloves, and goggles to keep rock and ash out of our eyes. I waited in line a little more confident, the terrifying drop I thought we would board down actually didn't have anything to do with the boarding, we boarded down a much much more safer trail. I decided to go before mom, so when my turn came I went. It was awesome going down a volcano on a board, I didn't go super fast, but I went at the right speed to have fun. It took a few minutes to get down, and I loved every second of it. I met mom at the bottom, even though she went after me she went at a faster speed. Mom gave me graham crackers and some water, then we went back to the truck. In the truck they gave everybody a banana and some cookies, except mom, she can't eat bananas (the give her tummy aches) so she ate cookies. We drove to Via Via, Bar Resturaunt and Hotel. At Via Via everybody in our group got a free drink, mom got a Tona beer and I got a red fanta soda. The adults talked about stuff, and of course, I was the only kid so I just sat there and listened in on mom's conversation with another lady. After a little chit chat, me and mom had to go, for Levi and dad would be leaving for their turn to go volcano boarding when we got back to the hostel.
Dad and Levi came back at to Leon at 6:30pm, and they got back to our hostal room at 7:00pm. They came home with a rotisserie chicken for dinner, so for dinner we had chayote (a vegetable that only grows in Central America), bread and butter, and rotisserie chicken. And surprise, we had dessert. For dessert we planned to have ice cream from Kiss Me ice creamery, but they were closed, so we went to the grocery store and each got a popsicle.
