We arrived in the Languedoc region of France by flying into Toulouse on Sunday and taking a train to Lezignan Corbiere. Our next workaway host, Richard, was there to pick us up and take us to the small very French village of Escales. Our jobs this week are painting, building and repairing these old barns. We are working alongside other workawayers which is fun. All different nationalities. We work in the morning and then have the rest of the day off, eating our meals together (10 of us).
We explored the village yesterday, hardly anybody was about, then to Chris' joy a citroen 2CV appeared in front of us and disappeared down the road. Lots of lovely typical French shuttered buildings with large barn doors and faded paint, along narrow streets the width of a car. The village has an 8th century church possibly founded by Charlemagne, which means the whole village is a conservation zone.
