A rainy day meant a chance for a rest day. A late wake up, then explored the rest of the campground and discovered a laundry, showers, cabins and best of all, a playground. This campsite is way bigger than first thought and it is a truly lovely spot by the river.
Elsie enjoyed splashing in puddles and running races. We did some well needed washing then had an early lunch at the BBQ restaurant on site. One thing we both struggle with is people smoking in restaurants. It is so common here. Not only was the restaurant all smoked out from the BBQ grills but then everyone lights up until it's quite impossible to breathe. Anyway, the beef was great.
Chilled out reading in the tent for a bit then headed over to the onsen again. Water a bit hot for Elsie but she enjoyed the cold pool again. This onsen seems to have everything too... washer and dryer, gym, relax lounge with massage chairs and beer vending machines. I tested the foot massager. Anyway we're all as clean as we can be before we head off tomorrow.
Cycled into town and found a fantastic restaurant for dinner. Tempura and chicken cutlet with all the sides for a very reasonable price. Just took us a while to work the menu out but we got there. And we also found an actual supermarket (as opposed to a convenience store). So many choices, I even found some peanut butter for sandwiches tomorrow.
Anyway, we are well fed and rested, ready for another cycling day tomorrow (despite a forecast high of only 14 degrees- the weather here seems all over the place and the forecasts change minute by minute. We are glad we brought all our warm gear too).
